I’ve now moved the African Undersea Cables map to a permanent page that I will update as new information emerges. The latest revision includes updates of:
- the EASSy cable to reflect its growth to 1.4 terabits
- the TEAMS cable to reflect its growth to 1.2 terabits (120 gigabits initial)
- the SAT3 cable to remove the proposed 2010 upgrade about which I have heard nothing since WACS was announced

this is great – unfortunately i have seen it just after presenting a paper on Africa submarine cables here in Dakar an ISOC event. You may consider adding in the map other fibres eg LION by france telecom in Indian ocean, West Africa Festoon System, Maroc Telecom network to Gabon and UhuruNet

Thanks. Do you by any chance have maps (of any quality) related to the LION or Maroc Telecom cables? Uhurunet has now been folded into the WACS cable from what I understand.

Have amended the Teams date and will follow up with the EuropeIndiaGateway folk for more details. As for WACS, the whole project has gone silent since its announcement. I don’t think this means that nothing is happening, just that it is a traditional telco project where everything happens behind closed doors.
