Sub-saharan Africa Undersea Cables in 2010 – maybe

So what might the undersea cable environment for sub-Saharan Africa look like by the end of 2010? Perhaps it will look a bit like this:

If anyone has a proposed map for Uhurunet and Main One, I would love to know about it.

    Dear Steve,

    Thanks for the map, i think it is a very good depiction. One thing i would add for SEACOM is the option to go to London as we are offering customers a bundled solution all the way to the London Telehouse.

    Dear Steve,

    Great map, I love it. Have you heard any information concerning the Glo-1 (or Glo One) cable by Nigerian operator Globacom. It is supposedly built from London to Dakar and planned to reach Ghana by May 09, Nigeria a bit later. Another white elephant?

    No, it looks to me like Glo-1 is happening. According to Russell Southwood:

    “The Glo One cable has been built from the UK to Dakar but has not yet been landed in Dakar. Despite an announcement that it would connect most West African countries between Dakar and Lagos, it has not yet been completed. Various cynics say that it has run out of money but this is a company that has just rolled out in Benin and plans to do the same again in Ghana. More credible rumours reaching us are that the countries where it was to have landed are asking too higher licence price, hence the delay.”
